Lululemon Athletica's Online Brand



Lululemon Athletica is a Canadian active wear line. It has many stores in both the U.S. and Canada. Their popularity has grown in recent years especially in the yoga community. They have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn profile. They also use Pintrest which targets their younger audience.

I am focusing on their Facebook page for the purposes of this assignment. They advertise their products on Facebook very well and they seem to be committed to customer satisfaction. Just with a couple scrolls you can see that customers upload pictures of an item that is malfunctioned and Lululemon comments back straight to them. They ask to continue the conversation in a private message, so I can only assume the customers' issues are rectified. They also show people doing activities in their clothing which makes us want to get out there and do those things too.

I think they could do a little bit better in terms of making their other sites match their Facebook. Their website is less informative than their Facebook page, their Twitter page is geared more towards people who already enjoy the brand. Someone new to the brand may not want to try it out because it is expensive and they seem like a high end brand for the 'earthy' type person, instead of a brand like Nike where it is a workout clothing company for everyone. This could be the very thing that sets Lululemon apart though, so it is really up to the interpretation of the consumer.

Overall, I like this brand. I own a few pieces from them, and their social media sites are easy to use. They show off their products on the various pages, but even I get intimidated by the models' bodies or the activities they show people doing sometimes. I think their online brand, in a nutshell, can best be described as being for the adventurer and risk taker.
